Abstract : Hydrogen compressors are key devices for supporting different applications of the hydrogen economy. Consequently, several technologies have been studied and developed during the last years to enhance their performance. One of these technologies is the metal hydride hydrogen compressor (MHHC), which is a reliable method to convert heat into mechanical work. The main characteristics of MHHC will be presented, as well as, some basic and applied thermodynamic aspects. Furthermore, additional numerical and experimental studies will be shown as an approach to improve the performance of these devices.
